A one-day field workshop on ‘Benthic Diversity of Diamond Harbour mudflat’ at Diamond Harbour, West Bengal was organized by ECSF for undergrad students of Serampore College, West Bengal on 24th November 2025. As coordinator and lead resource person, Dr. Jhimli Mondal (DBT BioCARe Women Scientist, ECSF) provided practical methods for investigating water characteristics, as well as the Line Transect Method (LIT) and Quadrat Method for evaluating the benthic diversity of mudflats and emphasised the importance of studying the river-side estuarine mudflat diversity. Dr. Arunodaya Goutam (Scientist C, ECSF) demonstrated the soil quality assessment of riverine mudflat ecosystem.
